C5 Corvette 1-3/4" American Racing Headers Long Tube Header System (1997–2004)

For 1997–2004 C5 Corvette coupe and convertible owners, the American Racing Headers (ARH) 1-3/4" long tube header system replaces the factory manifolds and completes the flow path with an X-pipe midsection to the rear-axle connection point, then mates to your axle-back. The result is a cleaner, higher-efficiency exhaust path for the LS platform, sharper throttle response, and a more aggressive tone under load.

Choose Your Configuration (Catted or Catless)

  • With high-flow cats (catted X-pipe): severe-duty 300-cell catalytic converters
    • 1997–2000: C5-97134300LSWC
    • 2001–2003: C5-01134300LSWC
    • 2004: C5-04134300LSWC
  • No cats (catless X-pipe):
    • 1997–2000: C5-97134300LSNC
    • 2001–2003: C5-01134300LSNC
    • 2004: C5-04134300LSNC

ARH C5 1-3/4" System – Product Details

  • 304 stainless steel construction
  • 1-3/4" primary tubes flowing into 3" collectors
  • Merge collectors with scavenger spikes to improve exhaust velocity
  • 3/8" laser-cut flanges for a warp-resistant, leak-resistant seal
  • Hand-ported TIG welded inlets and optimized primary routing for clean fitment
  • X-pipe midsection included to complete the system to the rear-axle connection point

Benefits

  • More efficient exhaust flow vs. restrictive factory manifolds
  • Stronger mid-range pull and sharper throttle response (results vary by setup and calibration)
  • A deeper, more aggressive sound character under acceleration
  • Built for long-term durability with corrosion-resistant stainless construction

What to Expect After Installation
Expect a more responsive feel when rolling into the throttle and a stronger exhaust presence under load. Catless setups run louder and sharper; catted systems keep the tone aggressive with a more controlled edge.

Technical Specifications

  • System type: Long tube headers + X-pipe midsection (mates to axle-back)
  • Primary diameter: 1-3/4"
  • Collector diameter: 3"
  • Collector attachment: Ball-and-socket style connection
  • Collector design: Merge collectors with scavenger spikes
  • Material: 304 stainless steel
  • Flange thickness: 3/8"
  • Midsection note: 1-3/4" midsections use a 2-1/2" reduction at the flange to connect to the stock system

What’s Included

  • Long tube headers (pair)
  • X-pipe midsection (catted or catless depending on selection)
  • O2 extension harnesses (required to complete the install)
  • Install hardware and gaskets
  • Band clamps included where applicable

Installation Overview
Direct-fit upgrade with no cutting or welding. Typical install includes removing factory manifolds, positioning headers, installing the X-pipe midsection, aligning the rear-axle connection point, and tightening to spec. A proper ECU calibration is required after installation for best results.

Corvette Compatibility

  • Fits 1997–2004 C5 Corvette Coupe & Convertible (5.7L V8 platform)

What Customers Say

  • Fit and routing feel purpose-built compared to generic header kits
  • Stronger pull in the mid-range once calibrated correctly
  • Sound becomes deeper and more aggressive without needing a full cat-back swap
  • Weld quality and flange sealing are commonly praised on long-term installs

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes—this page is built specifically around C5 coupe and convertible fitment for 1997–2004 applications.
Yes. Long tube headers change airflow and fueling requirements. A proper ECU calibration is needed for drivability and to get the performance benefit safely.
Catless is typically louder and sharper, with more raw exhaust character. Catted keeps the tone aggressive but smoother and more controlled.
This system is designed to complete the flow path to the rear-axle connection point and then mate to an axle-back/cat-back connection, so it’s commonly run with stock-style rear exhaust layouts.
It’s an advanced DIY job due to tight access around the engine bay and undercar routing. Many owners choose professional installation to save time and avoid headaches.
